In this installation I changed the functional space of the kitchen (as a place to make food, a meeting place, the hearth of the home) into a somewhat uninviting and cold room using materials found in a traditional kitchen. The appliances have been rapped in cooking film, which obstructs their uses. The way the film lays makes the room seem like it’s protected… like it’s been shielded similar to some unoccupied homes will have tarps or curtains over furniture to protect them. Uninviting yet somewhat beautiful.
After the installation was up I noticed that the wind coming through the window gave life to some loose parts of the film… so I shot a quick video which I will also be posting.
